I am a self-taught wood turner. I learned to turn on a circa 1924 metal-working lathe that I converted to wood turning. After over three years, in September 2004, I got a modern lathe and said goodbye to my dear OLD friend. I turn bowls, platters and vases, large and small, working extensively with salvaged wood of local trees and salvaged wood obtained from friends across the country. These woods are rescued from the fate of a fireplace or landfill to last forever as things of beauty and intrique. Often my works are accented with laminated or inlaid exotic and domestic hardwoods, copper and other materials.

My object is to reveal, in a pleasing shape, the intricacies and interplay of color, figure, and luster that are hidden within the wood.
