Rod has been involved in the visual arts most of his life. His career included stints as an art buyer, graphic designer, advertising art director for Sears, and an art director for a nationally known retail store planning and design firm.

During this time he always dabbled in the creation of art. Upon his retirement, he has been able to concentrate on becoming more serious about his art. He works in most media (watercolor, gouache, pastels, charcoal and graphite) intending to portray snippets of everyday life..

Being fortunate enough to have traveled to Italy a number of times and being inspired by the wonderful buildings and beautiful people, he has used them as subject matter for his art. you will also see work generated by a trip to Mexico and of course, the influence of local scenes.

Rod has also won many local and national awards, including the recent 2012 Artist Magazine 60 and Over Competition.
