fter a multi-decade hiatus, I resumed painting again where I left off back in school: painting landscapes, wildlife and still-life paintings in a realism style. While I was usually pleased with the finished painting, the process of getting there was less than pleasing to me. It was lacking in the creativity that my artist side craved.

While participating at the 2003 Squaw Valley Art, Wine and Music Festival, I became acquainted with an impressionist artist also showing there and was immediately inspired by his looseness and brilliant use of colors. It was then that I decided to change course and paint in an impressionsist style.

With help from well known artists such as Silvio Silvestri, Chuck Waldman, Lois Lebeck and Beverly Fields, to mention a few, I have developed a style that is very exciting and satisfying to me because it is my impresion of what I see. I am no longer interested in painting subjects as they appear in photographs.

I now paint mostly Plein air (outdoors). Through Plein air painting I am able to capture the essence of the moment when I was there. I strive to convey the feelings that I had with the subject matter through the use of light and shadow, color, and movement in the painting. It is my hope that you the viewer can share in these feelings as you look at the samples that are included below.
