Jean Stiles presents watercolors and pastels emphasizing light and shadow and color. "It is hard to translate into words what moves me visually but the emotion and feelings about the subject can be and are for me easily expressed in paint on paper or canvas. My style, somewhere between impressionistic and realistic, is always influenced by the nature that surrounds us all. I enjoy plein aire painting the most, but also paint from my own photos from extensive travels. My training reaches back to youth and college years and occasional workshops since. I now make my home in Placerville, CA."
