When Betty "Winsome" Stegeman retired after a 34-year career in the personnel management world of retailing, she turned to the fascination of watercolor painting, and also to make use of her formal education in fashion design and color.

Her Australian heritage and extensive travel in the South Pacific and Australia stimulated her interest in all the brilliant color of flowers, birds and fish. Also, the rare Australian Aboriginal cave
paintings. Their x-ray imagery is a challenge to the use of watercolor, and is presented in some of her work. Her paintings now have homes in Australia, England, and many states in the United States.

Former residents of the Bay Area, Betty and Roland Stegeman now make their home in Diamond Springs. After being married 53 years, they still work well together.
