| Llana Shaver is primarily
a self-taught artist, a gift acquired as a young child. She states, there
isn’t a time in my life I can’t remember drawing or painting.
She has worked in the medium of watercolor since 1982 after many years
of preferring pen & ink and acrylic mediums. She is an award winning artist
in both local and national shows; her paintings hang in both private and
corporate collections.
Finding watercolor, for me was like watching a ballet; it was calming, exciting, unpredictable and sometimes a little bit hard to control. I connect with watercolor; it at times seems a little bit like me. I like my paintings to say something although they may only speak to me. Often they reflect things that call out to me, an old abandoned building, a rusted out old car, a graffiti covered warehouse, an old discarded child toy. I also have a love of gardening, so flowers are often the focus of my paintings. Llana currently lives in Pollock Pines where she has lived since 1981 and works from her home studio, she also does mural paintings. |
