Bud's first experience as a photographer was at age 8, when his father bought him a "Brownie" camera. He remembers having to get a job in order to buy the film. Photos for the high school and college papers followed and after a stint in the army as a press photographer having photos published in U.S. Army publications, he was hooked. Most of Bud's work has been landscape, but after relocating to the Northern California scene, he was fortunate to hook up with a teacher named Ernie Braun who was a master at macro-photography. Bud decided to get involved in some of Ernie's field seminars. After moving to the Sierra Foothills and getting involved with the art community, Bud expanded his vistas and started telling stories with portraiture and physical surroundings. Travels throughout Europe, especially Italy, provided him with an unlimited canvas on which to ply his trade. While Bud is still a tradionalist, experimentation with digital photography has provided him with an immense field of opportunity. Bud hopes viewers of his work enjoy his sojourns into the composite world of film, The Faces and The Places, sometimes enhanced by the wonder of electronics. |
